New Resources for Candidates

Public Interest:  PSB has developed additional material relating to the public interest in planning.  This has been incorporated into the Ethics & Professionalism course, but is also available as a stand-alone module.  Please click here to download your copy.

Sample Work Logs:  For those seeking a guideline for preparation of their work experience (sponsorship) logs, a Candidate member has kindly made a redacted copy of his approved logs available to us.  It can be downloaded by clicking here.  Please note the logs were redacted for reasons of client and employer confidentiality only.

The Professional Standards Board Inaugurated

The planning profession in Canada continues to advance. As part of the Planning for the Future project, its participants agreed that a separate, national, independent body should oversee the certification process for professional planners and the accreditation of planning schools. On April 30th, 2012, the inaugural meeting of the Board of Directors of the Professional Standards Board for the Planning Profession in Canada (PSB) was held in Toronto. At that meeting the founding member organizations were recognized, resolutions to establish the Corporation were passed and the first officers of the Corporation were elected. PSB received its Articles of Incorporation from Industry Canada in September 2012.

These are exciting times for the profession; one way for Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) members to share in this excitement is to become a Mentor, a Sponsor, or an Examiner. All Candidate members will need a Mentor  and Sponsor, and we will, of course, need people to mark the Professional Exam. If you are interested in participating in this way, please contact PSB or your local Affiliate.

The Board of Directors of the PSB looks forward to the work ahead of it and serving new incoming members and the planning profession in Canada. The Board also thanks members of the Institute for your continuing support.
