Membership in Your Provincial/Territorial Institute or Association (PTIA)
Once your application for assessment has been reviewed and approved, we will forward your information to your Provincial/Territorial Institute or Association (PTIA), along with our confirmation that you are eligible for Candidate membership. The PTIA will normally contact you regarding your membership. Once this has been granted, please confirm this fact, along with your membership number (if one is assigned to you) to PSB.
You must maintain your membership during the PSB process, and we will verify this annually your PTIA. Should you allow your membership to lapse, you will be unable to accrue work experience, continue your mentorship, take the Ethics & Professionalism Course and test or sit the Professional Examination during that period. We understand that, during the process, events may occur – maternity/paternity leave, job changes, etc. – that may interfere with your membership and, in such cases, we will work with you and your PTIA to preserve work you have completed towards your certification.
Please note that PSB’s approval of your application to our process will normally be regarded by the PTIAs as final and not subject to any appeal to either organization. If you disagree with our decision, you may request a reconsideration of your application and supporting documents by PSB.
You should be aware that, where full (certified) membership in the PTIAs is concerned, PSB can only advise them that you have completed our process successfully. Each PTIA has the sole right to grant certification and full membership; this is not within PSB’s competence.
